Power electronic engineering specialist RXPE has relocated its project management and delivery team to Newcastle's prestigious Milburn House on Dean Street to accommodate a growing workforce.
RXPE first put down roots in Newcastle one year ago, employing a four-strong team in the city. Since then, eight more project management professionals and engineers have been taken on and further recruitment is anticipated over the next 12 months.
With headquarters in Altrincham, RXPE's Newcastle office focuses on managing delivery of UK projects involving large-scale technologies which enhance electricity transmission. Ongoing activity includes contracts with DONG Energy to provide and install equipment enabling energy generated from offshore wind farms to comply with the UK grid.
RXPE has ambitious growth plans and expects to secure several £multimillion contracts across the UK and Europe in 2016. Operations Manager Stephen Lee says that fulfilling the contracts requires extensive power engineering skill and expertise, which is readily available in Newcastle.
"RXPE is gaining a strong reputation in the UK and the rest of Europe, both for our advanced technologies and wraparound engineering support," Lee explains. "As the business grows, we will need to continue recruiting first rate electrical engineers and project managers. Newcastle is a hub of power engineering talent so it makes sense to extend our presence here with well-equipped offices that have room for ongoing expansion."
